“The accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty will make the patent system in Iraq more efficient and the procedures will be less costly for applicants seeking to obtain patent protection internationally,” Mr. Abdul Karim Hashim Mostafa, the permanent representative of Iraq to the United Nations.

Mr. Mostafa noted that the Ministry of Planning granted 532 patent certificates in 2021 and has granted more than 2,200 since 2017.
