Process:

  1. The registration process takes 6 months to be completed.
  2. A separate application should be filed for each class.
  3. The application will be examined by the TMO within a period of 1-3 months. After the end of the examination period, the TMO will issue a decision to either:
  4. Accept the application, the publication fees should be settled within 30 days from the official notification date, otherwise the application will be considered withdrawn.
  5. Reject the application, you may appeal the decision within a period of 60 days from the official notification date, otherwise the application would be considered withdrawn."
  6. Any interested third party can oppose the publication of the trademark application within 60 days from the date of publication. The applicant has 30 days from the official notification date to file a reply to the opposition, otherwise the application will be considered withdrawn.
  7. The applicant has 30 days from the end of publication period date to settle the registration fees, otherwise the application will be considered withdrawn.
  8. The certificate of registration will be issued within 1 -2 working days from the date of settlement of registration fees.
  9. The trademark's registration is valid for 10 Gregorian years, starting from the filing date, and renewable for similar consecutive periods.

Required Documents:

  1. Applicant/ Inventor (s) name and address.
  2. Patent full details (Abstract, specification, full description in English and Arabic.)
  3. Certified copy of the priority document.
  4. Power of Attorney (POA): Original should be notarized and legalized at the Bahrain embassy.
  5. Deed of Assignment (DOA): signed by the inventor(s), notarized and legalized at the Bahrain embassy.

Process:

  1. The patent registration process takes around 3 to 4 years.
  2. Once the application is filed, the examiner will review its formalities and issue formal acceptance if all requirements are met.
  3. Within 3 months of the formal acceptance the Examination fees and publication fees should be settled.
  4. The Examiner will issue a substantive examination report and will give a 90 days time limit to reply to the report.
  5. More than one substantive examination report might be issued from the same patents.
  6. The decision of the PTO can be appealed in front of the patent committee.
  7. After the final acceptance the final registration fees need to be paid and they patent will be published for 3 months.
  8. A patent is valid for 20 years.
  9. Maintenance fees should be paid form the 2nd year, starting the PCT filing date or the national filing date.

Required Documents:

  1. A summarized description of the design.
  2. Applicant info (name and address).
  3. Power of attorney (PoA): Original should be notarized and legalized.
  4. Deed of assignment if the applicant is not the designer.
  5. Translation to Arabic of all documents and descriptions is required at time of filing
  6. Copy of the commercial certificate document is required.

Process:

  1. One application can cover multiple designs.
  2. The process from filing to issuance of the certificate is for a period 1 to 2 years.
  3. The design registration is valid for 15 years.
  4. Annuity payments are settled annually, after the issuance of the registration certificate.
