Required Documents:
Power of Attorney (POA): notarized and legalized at the Egyptian embassy

Process:

  1. The registration process takes 14-18 months to be completed.
  2. A separate application should be filed for each class.
  3. "The application will be examined by the TMO within a period of 10 to 12 months. After the end of the examination period, the TMO will issue a decision to either:
  4. Accept the application, the publication fees should be settled within 6 months from the official notification date to publish the mark in the official gazette, otherwise the application will be considered withdrawn.
  5. Conditionally accept the application, you may appeal the decision or comply with the said conditions within a period of 30 days from the official notification date, otherwise the application would be considered withdrawn.
  6. Reject the application, you may appeal the decision within a period of 30 days from the official notification date, otherwise the application would be considered withdrawn."
  7. Any interested third party can oppose the publication of the trademark application within 60 days from the date of publication in the official gazette. The applicant has 30 days from official notification date to file a reply to the opposition, otherwise the application will be considered withdrawn.
  8. The certificate of registration will be issued within 1 month from the date of settlement of registration fees.
  9. The trademark certificate will be published for informative purposes only; No one can oppose the said publication.
  10. The trademark's registration is valid for 10 Gregorian years, starting from the filing date, and renewable for similar consecutive periods.

Required Documents:

  1. Original Power of Attorney (POA): notarized and legalized at the Egyptian embassy.
  2. Deed of Assignment (DoA) – notarized and legalized at the Egyptian embassy (in case it is a national application – no need for the DOA if the application is a PCT).
  3. Application as filed (in Arabic) + Drawings (AR)
  4. Certified copy of the priority document & its translation.

Process:

  1. The patent registration process takes around 3 to 4 years.
  2. After filing the application, the application is put on hold for 6 months until all required documents and information are fulfilled.
  3. The Examination fees should be settled within 6 months from the filing date. Otherwise, the application will be considered withdrawn.
  4. After completing the 6 months, the examiner will review its formalities and issue formal acceptance if all requirements are met or formal rejection if the documents were not submitted during the legal period.
  5. The Applicant has 60 days to appeal the PTO decision with the reasons for not submitting the documents on time.
  6. After completing the formal process, the application will be examined substantively and once the report is issued, the applicant will have a 90 days’ time limit to reply to the report.
  7. After the final acceptance, the publication and final registration fees should be settled, then the patent will be published for 3 months.
  8. A patent is valid for 20 years.
  9. Annuity fees should be paid from the second year, starting the PCT filing date.

Required Documents:

  1. A summarized description of the design.
  2. Applicant info (name and address).
  3. Power of attorney (PoA): Original should be notarized and legalized.
  4. Deed of assignment if the applicant is not the designer.
  5. Translation to Arabic of all documents and descriptions is required at time of filing
  6. Copy of the commercial certificate document is required.

Process:

  1. One application can cover several designs (additional charges to be paid for each additional design).The process from filing to issuance of the certificate is for a period of 1 to 2 years.
  2. The design registration is valid for 10 years, renewal is allowed once for 5 years.
  3. No annuities.
