Required Documents:

  1. Power of Attorney (POA): notarized and legalized at the Qatar embassy.
  2. A copy of the commercial certificate translated to Arabic

Process:

  1. The registration process takes 12-15 months to be completed.
  2. A separate application should be filed for each class.
  3. "The application will be examined by the TMO within a period of 2 to 3 months. After the end of the examination period, the TMO will issue a decision to either:
  4. Accept the application, the publication fees should be settled and the mark will be issued in the official gazette after 2 months. It is worth mentioning that the trademarks official gazette is issued at the beginning of every month.
  5. Conditionally accept the application, you may appeal the decision within a period of 60 days from the official notification date or comply with the said conditions within 6 months from the official notification date, otherwise the application would be considered withdrawn.
  6. Reject the application, you may appeal the decision within a period of 60 days from the official notification date, otherwise the application would be considered withdrawn."
  7. Any interested third party can oppose the publication of the trademark application within 120 days from the date of publication in the official gazette. The applicant has 60 days from date of official notification to file a reply to the opposition, otherwise the application will be considered withdrawn.
  8. The certificate of registration will be issued within 1 month from the date of settlement of registration fees.
  9. The trademark's registration is valid for 10 Gregorian years, starting from the filing date, and renewable for similar consecutive periods.

Required Documents:

  1. Original Sub Legalized Power of attorney (PoA).
  2. Original Sub Legalized Deed of Assignment (DOA) and its translation.
  3. Original Sub Legalized CR (Certificate of incorporation/certificate of good standing) & its translation.
  4. Application as filed and its translation in Arabic + Drawings.
  5. Certified copy of the priority document & its translation.

Process:

  1. The patent registration process takes 3-4 years.
  2. After filing the application, the application is put on hold for 6 months until all required documents and information are fulfilled.
  3. The Examination fees should be settled within 6 months from the filing date. Otherwise, the application will be considered withdrawn.
  4. After completing the 6 months, the examiner will review its formalities and issue formal acceptance if all requirements are met or formal rejection if the documents were not submitted during the legal period.
  5. Once the application is substantively accepted, the applicant has to settle the publication and registration fees to publish the application in the official gazette. Any interested third party can oppose the said application within 60 days from the date of publication.
  6. If the application passes the publication period successfully, the certificate of registration will be issued.
  7. The protection period of a patent is 20 years, from the filing date of the PCT application, or the national patent application based on the Paris Convention.
  8. Annuity payments are settled at the beginning of each year, between January and March.
