Required Documents:

  1. Power of Attorney (POA): apostilled

Process:

  1. The registration process takes 6 - 8 months to be completed. This assumes a smooth process with no oppositions or rejections, and that all documents and formality requirements were submitted at filing. Otherwise, it would take around 12 -15 months.
  2. A separate application should be filed for each class.
  3. After filing the application will be examined by the TMO within a period of 1 to 2 months. After the end of the examination period, the TMO will issue a decision to either:
  4. Accept the application, and the mark proceeds to be published in the official gazette and a local newspaper for 60 days which is the opposition period.
  5. Conditionally accept the application, you may appeal the decision or comply with the said conditions within a period of 60 days from the official notification date, otherwise the application would be considered withdrawn.
  6. Reject the application, you may appeal the decision within a period of 60 days from the official notification date, otherwise the application would be considered withdrawn.

  8. If the mark is accepted and not rejected, it will be published for 60 days any interested third party can oppose the publication of the trademark application within 60 days from the date of publication in the official gazette.
  9. The trademark owner has 30 days to file a reply to the opposition from date of official notification, otherwise the application will be considered withdrawn.
  10. The certificate of registration will be issued within 60 days after the end of the publication period.
  11. The trademark's registration is valid for 10 Gregorian years, starting from the filing date, and renewable for similar consecutive periods.

Required Documents:

  1. Applicant/ Inventor (s) name and address.
  2. Patent full details (Abstract, specification, full description in English and Arabic.)
  3. Certified copy of the priority document.
  4. Power of Attorney (POA): Original should be notarized and legalized at the Oman embassy.
  5. Deed of Assignment (DOA): signed by the inventor(s), notarized and legalized at the Oman embassy.

Process:

  1. The patent registration process takes 4-5 years.
  2. Once filed, the application will be formally examined to check if all the required documents were submitted. When formally accepted, the applicant will have to settle the substantive examination fees, otherwise, the application will lapse.
  3. Once the application is substantively accepted, the applicant has to settle the publication and registration fees to publish the application in the official gazette. Any interested third party can oppose the said application within 120 days from the date of publication.
  4. If the application passes the publication period successfully, the certificate of registration will be issued.
  5. The protection period of a patent is 20 years, from the filing date of the PCT application, or the national patent application based on Paris Convention.
  6. Annuity payments are settled at the beginning of each year, between January and March.

Required Documents:

  1. A summarized description of the design.
  2. Applicant info (name and address).
  3. Power of attorney (PoA): Original should be notarized and legalized.
  4. Deed of assignment if the applicant is not the designer.
  5. Translation to Arabic of all documents and descriptions is required at time of filing
  6. Copy of the commercial certificate document is required.

Process:

  1. One application can cover multiple designs.
  2. The process from filing to issuance of the certificate is for a period of 1 to 2 years.
  3. The design registration is valid for 10 years.
  4. Annuity payments are settled at the beginning of each year, between January and March.
