2008 Phoenician soldier with a book

The collector’s item gifted by the Alyafi IP Group in 2008 was a Phoenician soldier with a book that has the Phoenician letters on it.

During the 4th and 3rd centuries BC Carthage was the most powerful nation on the Mediterranean. Carthage, which is called today Tunisia, was originally settled by the Phoenicians in the 9th century BC. By the 3rd century, they had control of Northwestern Africa, Corsica, Sardinia, and large parts of Spain. Carthaginian citizens did train for battle, but only fought if there was an immediate threat to their homeland. Therefore, they hired many mercenaries to fight all of their fights abroad. For this reason, the Phoenicians were more known for their trading abilities than for their fighting abilities.

Hannibal was born in Carthage and then he moved and conquered and reached the borders of India.
