Exciting News for Innovators: SAIP Takes on a Global Role in Intellectual Property
We’ve got some exciting news to share! The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has officially been appointed as an International Searching Authority (ISA) and International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). This new role, effective from December 15, 2024, means that SAIP will soon be offering local, and international search and examination services for patent applicants.
What Does This Mean for You?
If you’re an inventor, startup, or business looking to protect your ideas, this is big! SAIP’s new role will make it easier for you to access high-quality IP services locally, and help you get your innovations recognized internationally.
Here’s how it benefits you:
- Local Access to Global Services
Applicants in Saudi Arabia and other PCT countries can now access international search and preliminary examination services right here at home—making the process faster and more efficient. - Supporting Innovation
This is a step toward building a stronger innovation ecosystem in Saudi Arabia, encouraging more local businesses and creators to protect their ideas and compete globally.
What’s Next?
With the official launch just around the corner, we encourage you to start preparing for this exciting change. As always, we’re here to help guide you through the process and make sure your intellectual property is protected.
