UAE Implements Nice Classification – 13th Edition
We are pleased to inform you that the United Arab Emirates has officially adopted the 13th Edition of the Nice Classification of Goods and Services for trademark registrations.
Effective 27 January 2026, all newly filed trademark applications must fully comply with the updated WIPO classification framework. This latest edition introduces revised terminology, updated class headings, and certain reclassifications, placing greater emphasis on the accurate and precise drafting of goods and services specifications.
Applicants are therefore advised to carefully review their trademark filings to ensure alignment with the new classification standards, as non-compliance may result in objections or procedural delays.
