We are pleased to announce that an important update issued by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism regarding trademark procedures in the United Arab Emirates. 

In line with its commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction and improving the efficiency of Intellectual property services, the Ministry has introduced a temporary administrative measure allowing extended deadlines for the submission of legalized documents in trademark matters. 

Key Provisions of the Decision: 

Temporary Extensions: Applicants encountering difficulties in securing legalized documents within the prescribed timeframe may be granted extensions. 

Grace Period: An additional period will be allowed following the expiration of the original 90-day deadline for the submission of legalized Powers of Attorney. 

Further Extensions: Subject to prior coordination with the Trademark Office, additional monthly extensions may be requested before the lapse of the granted period, for up to 30 days at a time. 

No Official Fees: These extensions will be granted without the imposition of any additional official fees. 

Compliance Requirement: Applicants remain under an obligation to submit the required legalized documents once they become available, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.  

This decision reflects the Ministry’s of commitment to facilitating procedural flexibility while maintaining integrity of the trademark registration system.
