Intellectual Property Insights: Saudi Authority Updates

Welcome to our Intellectual Property Newsletter!

In our latest edition, we’re diving into the recent amendments made by the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), highlighting their impact on trademark applications in Saudi Arabia.

Immediate Rejections for Non-Compliance

SAIP has introduced a significant change, eliminating the 10-day grace period previously granted to applicants for amending refused trademark applications. Instead, non-compliant submissions will now face immediate rejection. This move emphasizes SAIP’s dedication to upholding strict formal and legal requirements in the trademark application process.

Single Avenue for Appeals

Another notable change is the establishment of a single avenue for recourse: filing appeals within a non-extendable 60-day period before the Appeals Committee. This streamlined approach aims to provide clarity and efficiency for applicants navigating the appeals process.
