A recent procedural change introduced by the Syrian Directorate of Industrial and Commercial Property Protection has reduced the documentary requirements for intellectual property matters in Syria.

Under the new practice, applicants and rights holders are no longer required to submit copies of corporate documents, including certificates of incorporation, business licences, commercial register extracts, or articles of incorporation, when proceeding with intellectual property actions before the Syrian IP Office.

The change covers trademarks, patents, industrial designs, utility models, and copyrights. It also confirms that commercial register extracts are no longer required when filing trademark renewal applications.

By removing these formalities, the Syrian IP Office has made the process more straightforward and reduced the administrative burden on applicants. The revised procedure is expected to support faster and more efficient handling of IP filings, registrations, and renewals in Syria.
